Why not relax and wind down at Almond Tree Villa in the hills of Zarzalico, near Lorca in Murcia, with your hosts Alastair and Martyn? We are open all year round in one of the most peaceful and warmest regions of Spain. We are also ideally positioned for house hunting in the region and offer viewing trip specials (see house hunting).
Our spacious new build villa has three large fully en-suite rooms to let (see photo gallery). The 10x5m pool is surrounded by terracing, landscaped gardens and panoramic views of almond and olive groves. Our backdrop is the Cabezo Jara peak (our banner is our view)! Temperatures are mild all winter and hot in summer, with plenty of sunshine all year round. Winter and spring are ideal for mountain biking and walking. We have two mountain bikes for hire. For those of you who enjoy astronomy, the night skies, devoid of light pollution, are amazing, allowing you to spot a shooting star.
In autumn and winter daytime temperatures are still warm. You can still sunbathe most afternoons around the pool and eating outside by the sea is a favourite pastime. The bee-eaters have now returned to Africa, but the occasional hoopoe, a distinctive bird with elegant plumage is a year round resident and can be seen ’flashing between olive trees, a flying confection of pink and zebra stripes’. Recently we have been seeing (during periods of dark clouds in daytime) swarms of 20+ eagles. Eagles are about all year, the golden eagle is the most common and with a 2m wingspan they are easy to spot.
